Using Facebook consistently during this internship taught me so much! Facebook was their number one form of interaction with their audience and number one of engagement and likes. Which meant it was the best way to connect with people! Using Facebook, we posted the same material from Twitter and Instagram, but this was the complete post- often much longer and more in detail than the other two, which worked out because it allowed us to use a more story-telling approach. For Twitter, my main goal was to make this something that was viewed and used more often by OU in Arezzo. Because Twitter has 240 characters, I decided to use it to post smaller recaps of each longer post. Typically from Facebook or Instagram, this would be a much smaller, main idea of the post found on Twitter. While running OUA's account on Twitter, tweets became more constant, and we gained more followers. Before working with OUA, I could see that Twitter was one of their lower following and engaging sites, so I wanted to figure out something that would help them in the future. Posting smaller recaps with pictures helped them because it allowed followers to view the same story and the main idea vs. doing threads.
Below are some of the Tweets sent out along with some virtual fliers I made that was used to tell students about upcoming Fall classes, and events in Arezzo that we hosted! For my internship, one of the social media sites that I worked on was Instagram. My goal was to engage more followers on campus and work on engagement. We decided to post six days a week and have a theme for each day. Roundtrip Recap on Monday was to show followers about a trip taken by students on the weekend or a school trip. Tasty Tuesday showcased restaurant in Arezzo or a popular Italian dish, Way back Wednesday focused on a memory from a past trip. Thursday showcased a memory, challenge, or something on our Instagram story. Friday focused on past students and their experiences or residents of Arezzo, their business, or what they have done in the community. Saturday and Sunday alternated talking about old trips, different Tuscany towns, and challenges we created with the other study center. I enjoyed running Instagram because it made me realize how much work there is to be done within a company site and how meticulous and specific I was about detail. I wanted the site to look appealing to anyone interested in OUA. Below are all of the posts I created and posted.
